Riikka Koulu

Riikka Koulu specialises in different applications of dispute resolution and technology. Her doctoral dissertation « Dispute Resolution and Technology – Revisiting the Justification of Conflict Management » will be publicly defended on September 23, 2016.

Koulu’s theoretical influences vary from systems theory to media theory and science and technology studies. In relation to dispute resolution, Koulu examines both courtroom technology and online dispute resolution (ODR) and thus, forgoes the traditional separation between litigation and ADR doctrines. Koulu’s other research interests include governance of Internet, legal conflict management, law and technology and critical systems theory. At the moment, Koulu is working on legal implications of cryptocurrencies and the blockchain.
